  Why Intense Pulse Light (IPL)?

Removal of unwanted body hair is of a major importance to most women and to an increasing number of men who spend tremendous sums of money and invest much time and energy in pursuit of a smooth look.

In the USA alone some 80 million people use dipilatory cream, epilators, waxing or shaving kits on a regular basis, spending an estimated $500-$600 million annually. Over $1billion is spent annually on electrolysis, which is a painful and invasive procedure requiring many treatments.

The Clinic (Cockermouth) is delighted to introduce the ultimate answer to removing unwanted hair.

Using the Latest technological breakthrough, the laser based hair removal system can gently remove unwanted hair with a flash of light, using intense pulsed light or photo epilation as it is also known. It is quick, virtually painless and more importantly, as extensive medical tests has proved, it can be permanent.

Whether on the face, back, legs, bikini line, or just about anywhere, including most skin and hair colours, the laser treatment removes even the most stubborn unwanted hair safely and effectively.

  How does it work?

Hair is made up of a shaft and a bulb. The bulb is located at the base of the hair follicle. Within the bulb lies the germative cells which are responsible for the reproduction of hair. In the removal of unwanted hair it is best to do so when the hair bulb is at its most active stage, as this will ensure a long-term result.

Hair on the human body lies at different levels of the skin, therefore making hair removal a very complex procedure. To add to this complexity hair also grows at different stages and it is crucial that we remove the hair in its gerrnative state, which is known as the Anagen stage.

The three different stages of hair growth are Anagen, Catagen and Telagen. The Anagen stage is the most relevant in hair removal as it is the stage were your hair is most active. Each area on the body has different percentages of Anagen hair and this will determine your hair growth pattern. Due to hair growth pattern, clients will normally have multiple treatments to ensure long-term hair removal. On average 6-18 sessions will be needed to complete treatment of the area.
